Google Wave.. Expressions can’t be made about what this brings to the table
Submitted by Eric Fouarge on Mon, 06/01/2009 - 04:40
I never really anticipated the idea of e-mail, document collaboration, Twitter, instant messaging, application integration, and full web site integration to be completely rolled into a single entity. I’m waiting anxiously on getting access to the Developer Sandbox so I can play with the API and work on an extension to possibly streamline our Backup Notification Protocols and streamline our Customer Support workflow.

DRDB Management Console .. finally!!
Submitted by Eric Fouarge on Thu, 06/04/2009 - 03:18
As many of you sysadmins that deal with Linux High Availability and clusters you will find that there has been a nice little utility to ease the burden on your DRDB management. The DRDB Management Console doesn’t require any agents or additional code added to your nodes but administers everything over ssh as if you were going to do your work anyways. The nice thing about this utility is that you can manage everything from a GUI window and it still shows you the act console commands that are being given. Which can be a learning utility for your junior admin that you have sitting under you that you’d like to start managing the clusters or have an idea how things work and can step in on the pager rotation and hopefully get you out of it for a little bit.

Please bear through the small reconstruction of the layout of DF
Submitted by Eric Fouarge on Mon, 06/08/2009 - 16:16
Well as you can see I’ve scrapped the old layout of DataFukked.com and you can prolly see that the new layout and work being done is still being thought out a little. As I just work on this site for fun, I’m not going to bother staging it and I’m just going to be working on the layout and design live. I don’t expect it to take long for it to come together, but suggestions would be appreciated!!

Blackberry Storm Apps Review
Submitted by Eric Fouarge on Sat, 06/13/2009 - 17:04
So I’ve had my Blackberry Storm for about 2 weeks now and I’ve certainly got everything setup how I like it and have found the essential apps to work with my life. First thing I want to put on the record, that the battery life initially sucked horribly then I removed VZ Navigator which from my research was the blood sucking battery whore. So for the noobs getting their Storm, first thing I would suggest is to remove the VZ Navigator application immediately.
As one of my core uses of my blackberry is on the fly decision making, business e-mail, information recollection, and the occasional get me unlost.
Changing the Speed and Duplex on your Vyatta Router
Submitted by Eric Fouarge on Mon, 06/15/2009 - 08:08
I was working on my production Vyatta routing infrastructure today and thought this would be some helpful and useful information for someone out there. Many people set their NIC’s to auto-negotiate which is fine for quick and easy setups, but I’ve found this can be a culprit of many network latency issues in datacenter environments. So I’m going to walk you through the steps of configuring your WAN NIC for 100MB Full Duplex and your internal or your LAN NIC for 1000MB Full Duplex
Upgrade your Twitter arsenal and become more effective with your tweets

Do you use Twitter to stay in touch with your friends / colleagues / clients and just randomness of the world? If you don’t you should be because it increases the inflow of the world’s news into your life and makes it easier to stay intouch with everything. For the longest time I’ve been a very avid user of Tweetdeck, but the only complaint I’ve had with Tweetdeck is that it did not support multiple accounts. I have found my desktop solution to that with Seesmic Desktop.
