Submitted by Eric Fouarge on Wed, 12/02/2009 - 06:44
I have recently been looking for a new way to manage my ESXi servers in the datacenter as I was starting to get annoyed on having a ton of VI Clients open on my management box. So after some Googling I found this awesome little management utility that lets you basically do everything you need to do when managing your ESXi servers. The utility is called VM Explorer, Trilead is the application manufacture that is building and supporting the product. They have 2 versions of the software -- a free version and a commerical version. There are some limitations of the free version, but for sm

I just finished reading multiple press releases regarding Sun's Virtualbox 3.1 teleportation feature. This is a functionality you generally see in a more enterprise setting, but it's nice to see that this functionality is here finally with Virtualbox. Here is a quick walkthrough on using the Teleportation function, since it has to be leveraged from the command line as there isn't a functional GUI management yet for multiple virtualbox servers.

Linux Virtual Server
The Linux Virtual Server Project is a project to cluster many real servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server. The LVS load balancer handles connections from clients and passes them on the the real servers (so-called Layer 4 switching) and can virtualize almost any TCP or UDP service, like HTTP, HTTPS, NNTP, FTP, DNS, ssh, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, etc. It is fully transparent to the client accessing the virtual service.

BeyondCompare 3 on Fedora 12

As I tend to work with a great deal of data comparisons between "corrupt" and restored data, its very helpful to have a great file comparison utility. Beyond Compare is that utility that you need for this type of work. I use it from compare folder structures, to database integrity, or to explain to that stubborn person that they are missing data and the missing data isn't in their back file.
The install is a straight forward rpm install. Make sure you are su'd in your terminal
