As I tend to work with a great deal of data comparisons between "corrupt" and restored data, its very helpful to have a great file comparison utility. Beyond Compare is that utility that you need for this type of work. I use it from compare folder structures, to database integrity, or to explain to that stubborn person that they are missing data and the missing data isn't in their back file.
The install is a straight forward rpm install. Make sure you are su'd in your terminal
[eric@localhost Download]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost Download]# rpm -ivh BCompareLinux-3.1.9.11282.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:bcompare ########################################### [100%]
From there launch it from your menu, and follow through the wizard to do your initial configuration. This utility beats every opensource differencing utility hands down in my opinion.
